When you think about it, of course they did, but isn't it wonderful that someone wrote it down, and that people preserved it all that time, and that the text has been there for people to set to music over and over!DeanBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13314460920173552547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066718123173949401.post-88275353139913960092008-12-05T11:47:00.000-05:002008-12-05T11:47:00.000-05:00DeanB, my heart stopped as I waited for you to tak...DeanB, my heart stopped as I waited for you to take that step. This is the stuff of which prayer is made - the steps taken, the waters crossed, the risks taken. The words only matter in that we feel compelled to use them, to make things real, to remember, to give voice to that which we have known and felt and experienced.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066718123173949401.post-65862674205028940562008-12-04T20:42:00.000-05:002008-12-04T20:42:00.000-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Barbarahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14446216858079895691noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066718123173949401.post-47421828855177297622008-12-04T12:52:00.000-05:002008-12-04T12:52:00.000-05:00This really goes with your "Trilogy - out of the d...This really goes with your "Trilogy - out of the depths" post, since that's a psalm quote too. I want to put in a plug for Ps 121, the mountain climbers' prayer. Long ago (probably Nov 24 1963 -- you can figure out why I can remember the date) I was climbing Giant in the Adirondacks with friends from college. There was a little patch of ice I had to step over, with hundreds of feet of steep bare rock beyond it. The next time I saw "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved" I knew what it meant.DeanBhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13314460920173552547noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7066718123173949401.post-73435414222008229692008-11-21T15:07:00.000-05:002008-11-21T15:07:00.000-05:00Pray...and then listen for the crikets chirping. ...Pray...and then listen for the crikets chirping.<BR/> Or better yet, get a copy of the study of hospital patients who actually got worse when they had people pray for them.Fred Preusshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06438368833909384043noreply@blogger.com
